These terms cover your use of chicagoknobandtube.com, operated by Chicago Knob and Tube. By using the site, you agree to them. Questions go to office@chicagoknobandtube.com.
What the information is for
The guides explain how knob-and-tube wiring works and what replacing it involves in Chicago-area homes. They are general information, not an inspection or advice about a particular property. Codes, permit rules and fees change, and Chicago rules do not automatically apply in a separate municipality, so check current requirements with the responsible building department before relying on them.
Price ranges and tools
The price ranges, the cost estimator and the project assessment are budgeting and planning tools. They are not quotes, offers or a judgment about whether any home is safe or insurable. The price for a property comes after an assessment, in a written estimate. Photographs and the illustrative walkthrough show what this kind of work involves; they are not records of specific completed projects.
The work itself
Electrical work is carried out by licensed and insured contractors. The terms of any job are the ones in its written estimate or contract, not these site terms.
Sending a request
Sending a form or calling does not create a contract. Please send accurate details, and only for a property you own, are buying or selling, or manage. Automated or abusive submissions are blocked.
Safety
Nothing on this site asks you to open, touch or test electrical equipment. If you notice heat, scorching or a burning smell at an outlet, switch or light, stop using it and call an electrician. If you see smoke or flame, leave the building and call 911.
